Glorifying God Through Sisterhood

I don’t think we always understand, or appreciate, the importance of unity in the body of Christ – specifically, unity amongst the daughters of God.

Women have a way of being able to relate to one another in a way that men are unable to. We understand one another’s pain, thoughts and experiences. Yet, we’re also able to hurt one another and amplify each other’s pain in the deepest of ways when we use our God-given connection for evil. God knows what a powerful tool sisterhood can be in glorifying Him and spreading the Gospel but, only when we don’t allow our own pride and insecurities get in the way.

When women choose to encourage and uplift one another out of reverence for Christ, something so beautiful happens. God is glorified, hearts connect through unity in Christ and His love casts out all fear and insecurity. Gossip, slander, divisiveness, bullying and jealousy are works of the flesh. They are weapons forged in the kingdom of darkness and they don’t belong amongst those who claim Christ. When we keep our hearts pure before the Lord and our minds filled with His Word, we’re able to look past our own shortcomings for ways in which to serve each other. Sometimes, instead of being a safe space, the Christian community can be the harshest place a woman may find herself in. That, I believe, is something that definitely needs to change.

As daughters of God, may our heart’s desire always be to love our sisters in Christ as He does. May we choose to serve one another out of reverence for Christ, and cast aside all works of darkness. May our thoughts, words and deeds glorify God at all times.

“The night [this present evil age] is almost gone and the day [of Christ’s return] is almost here. So let us fling away the works of darkness and put on the [full] armor of light. Let us conduct ourselves properly and honorably as in the [light of] day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and irresponsibility, not in quarreling and jealousy. But clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for [nor even think about gratifying] the flesh in regard to its improper desires.”
